To get started with the course, please review the items under the Start Here menu, as these will give you a quick orientation to the course. Make sure to watch the Course Walkthrough video for more information on how to navigate this facilitated asynchronous online course.

Then, head to the Week 1 Overview to get started with your course activities and assignments. Your first reading assignments are due by Wednesday January 20 at 11:59 pm, and your first discussion activity kicks off then as well, so make sure that you’re prepared to join in. This is a structured course; although topics, readings, activities, and assignments will be spread out over the week, you will have specific due dates during the week. It’s important to review the weekly overviews and to-do lists so that you know what you’re responsible for doing each week.

Please ask any and all questions on the Q&A channel in Teams!

This course is the result of tons and tons of collaboration and intellectual generosity. We want to acknowledge and thank the folks who inspired us, taught us, and collaborated with us. Dr. Louisa Stein (Professor in FMMC) and Dr. Kim Jaxon of Cal State Chico inspired the architecture and design of the site. Dr. Jason Mittell (Professor in FMMC) inspired the Participation Menu. Our grading approach is inspired by Dr. Cate Denial of Knox College. We appreciate Dr. Sarah Payne’s (Instructional Designer, DLINQ) feedback on a draft of the course site.
